- Underpinned shaft (3.35m ø, 7m deep).
- Working within a live railway station meant that the safety of the public was paramount. The logistics of the shaft sinking operation were therefore planned around minimising the interface with the public as best we could. We therefore decided to transfer all of the materials on to the platform and remove all of the shaft spoil during the night whilst the station was closed. The excavation, building and grouting of the underpinned shaft was then undertaken during the day.
